Welcome to Divine Word College of Calapan!
Upon arriving the venue, we were asked to fill up a registration form wherein we need to write our names, respective schools or churches, home addresses, and contact numbers. Distribution of camp kit followed. We were given a name tag, T-shirt, and an ecobag with a folder, notebook and pen in it. The room assignment was organized this way, students and mentors from the same school were evenly distributed for them to make new friends with our room mates!
The original schedule was not followed due to number of participants who can’t make it on time.
DWCC Gym

Right after dinner, everyone was asked to proceed to the gym. The program started with the Pilgrim Dance, followed by a prayer song, the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, and Calapan Anthem, liturgy readings, video presentation of the Accomplishment Report , and two song numbers (I Will Survive and Price Tag).

Mr. Wyndell Gaspan, the camp director, also gave his introductory speech. He shared that the SVD 4CD Camp Year 1 was in line with the 2011 DWCC 65th Founding Anniversary. The purpose of organizing this camp is the need for principled, value based leasers who could commit in the national development and invest in the future. Mr. Wyndell also introduced the camp ground rules.  First is magsaya (to enjoy); second is matuto (to learn) because experience is the best teacher when your experience are reflected upon; third is magtanong (to ask questions) because in asking questions do we learn; fourth is magtaya (to take risk); and the last is magdasal at mangarap (to pray and to aspire).

Miss Adel, member of the DWCC Secretarial, presented to us the house rules.

The campers were divided into 8 groups and each group was recognized not through its group number nor through its group name, but through its animal sound. The Getting-to-Know You activity followed. The mechanics of the game, you need to arrange yourselves according to what is being asked without talking. It was indeed a fun game! Supposedly, there should still be another activity called the Expectation Setting wherein all of us were provided with two meta cards. On the orange cards, we were asked to continue the sentence, "Wish ko sana..", while on the violet cards, we were asked to continue the sentence, "Sana walang.." But due to time constraints, it was just given as an assignment. Each group was also given the task to prepare a performance. They could either sing, dance, act, or any other way that can showcase any of their creative talents. It will be performed on the President's Night the next day.

The Buslo ng Mensahe and Learning Wall was also introduced. Each one of the campers and organizers have his/her own pocket in the dining area and anyone who wishes to write a letter to him/her can just drop the letter there. The Learning Wall may be similar to a Freedom Wall. People can write and share there what they've learned throughout the camp.

The activity ended with the SVD music video, Witness to the Word.

Dinner

Everyone was so shy and quiet. Campers from the same schools, parishes and churches sat with each other.

Pilgrim Dance

All the lights were turned off and the only source of light were the lighted candles given to each. Everyone needs to place his right hand on the left shoulder of the person in front of him while the music is playing. While walking/dancing, everyone needs to follow the beat of the music that was being played. The lighted candles were then placed in front.
